This time we take a look at how to make a paracord key.
One of the less known paracord projects is the paracord key. It is a decorative item that stores quite a bit of paracord.
I do not know what drew me so hard to make this project. I use paracord often to make keychains but I have till this day never made a paracord key. Finally I can join the two. The benefit is that I will be able to survive in the wild. I will on the other hand have a hard time getting through doors, since so far, the paracord key has yet to open any for me.
For this project you will need:
- paracord
- scissors or knife for cutting
- a lighter
Depending on how tight you will make your knots you will use up various amounts of paracord. I do suggest that you take a bit more than you would expect, just in case.
How to make the paracord key
The key is made using a series of cow hitches. after making nine in a row you connect them into a circle. They you will make five more knots for the other side and a final knot at the end. At the last two cow hitches I left some cord out so it actually looks like a key. This is not a hard project to do, but keeping the knots in line can be difficult.
After making each part of the key I highly recommend going through the knots and taking out any slack that might have built up.
